A campanha de Monte foi muito bem planejada e como sempre fez a montadora alemã, colocou-se muito dinheiro e muito suporte a disposição do Time (haviam 3 caminhões com peças e 4 carros-oficina, além de um time de mecânicos composta por nada menos 10 expertos e 3 engenheiros), o que para a época não era nada usual. O primeiro carro a chegar foi a Mercedes-Benz 220SE de Walter Schock e Rolf Moll no Fintail (como era designada) de número 128.
